Off The Beaten Trail

ITS BACK!

(Please see the "Changes" paragraph below)

Off The Beaten Trail.com    (OTBT)         This Web Site Created: Monday, May 31, 2004

Beginning: In the summer of 2002, co-founders Loree and Ward started hiking together. Word got around.  The number of participants has grown to over 300. Off the Beaten Trail is the result. You are always welcome to attend any of our events.  From the start, Ward has been the primary event coordinator.

Changes: On Sep 25, 06 Ward's Daughter, Kristi -16 years old, was in a car accident suffering massive head injuries.  She died Dec 8, 06 as a result of the accident.  During that time Off The Beaten Trail activities stopped.  After that, Ward lost his enthusiasm to continue to be event coordinator.  Ward received a lot of support from the friends he made.  A few of the Off The Beaten Trail group have stayed in touch since Dec 06 - having an occasional happy hour, monthly dinner and in the summer of 2007 boating trips to Roosevelt Lake.  Of all the  Off The Beaten Trail activities, Ward missed the companionship of hiking with his friends and making new hiking friends. So, in Oct 07, Ward decided to see if the hiking portion of Off The Beaten Trail  could be restarted.  So begins the next phase of Off The Beaten Trail.

Who are Off the Beaten Trail  People?  A group of single people living in the metropolitan Phoenix (AZ) area. Off the Beaten Trail membership fee:  NONE.          This web site was designed to communicate the Off the Beaten Trail events to single people who may wish to join us.

Examples of social events: Originally (Phase I) social events included: house parties, theatre, dinners, happy hours, comedy nights at the Improv, birthday parties, Round Table Discussions – Rules of Dating, wine tasting party, New Year’s Eve party and much more.  Phase II will focus mostly on hiking.
